STAND & DELIVER COMEDY CLUB-Daliso Chaponda/Joey Page/ Mike Newell

TICKETS ON THE DOOR, BUT ARRIVE EARLY NOT TOO MISS OUT

Stand and Deliver Lancashire's Largest Comedy Club For another amazing night of comedy!

Headliners confirmed: Daliso Chaponda/ Joey Page/Mike Newell

Daliso Chaponda

Malawian Daliso Chaponda began his comedy career in Canada in 2001, quickly building to his first one-man show, Feed This Black Man. His 2004 show Don’t Let Them Deport Me was a thinly-disguised plea to have his Canadian visa extended . However, the ploy failed - but not before he performed at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal in 2005.

He then moved to South Africa, where he continued to work as a comedy writer and performer. More recently he has moved to the UK, where he has established himself on the Jongleurs circuit of largish clubs. In 2007, he appeared in the Big Value shows at the Edinburg Fringe.

Joey Page

"A stylish comedian with a sonic imagination and a twinkle in his eye" Noel Fielding

Joey Page is eccentric. He is somewhat of an undiscovered sparkling gem. Magical swirling surreal comedy. An antidote to the woes of the world, Joey takes you through the tangled joy of his charmingly childlike logic. Creating a world of uniquely offbeat characters and tall tales of fancy.

"Joey Page is briliantly inventive and imaginative and very funny" Josie Long

Also noted for his flamboyant rockstars dress sense, Page is as unique and mischievous off stage as he is on stage. Joey is like a shiny maverick of colour and sound constantly flitting from one notion of excitement to the next. Convinced as child he wanted to be a wrestler, dinosaur or spaceman he has had to settle for becoming a stand up. When not pretentiously hanging about town as a dandy fopp Joey embroiles himself in the small matters of writing a sitcom, and developing ideas for tv and radio atop of expanding his wondrous collections of trilbys and brooches.

"this innately likeable young man has an instinct for funny" Chortle

Mike Newell

After leaving school in 1997 I did a year at Stockport College doin Mechanics, spent most of that time messing about and drinking. Started a band and started doing building work which was hard and messy so went back to college to do performing arts at City College Manchester. At this point my hopes of being a musician fell through as the band split up. Started doing short comedy films and comedy acting. Graduated college, then went to Salford University to do Media Performance. In my second year at Salford I started writing standup comedy and did my first gig in Dec 2002 and have been gigging ever since, based in Stockport but do perform all over the country, venturing out to places such as Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, the North East and Lonon. I have been running and compering a comedy night in Wilmslow, Cheshire, for just over four years.

In addition to stand-up, Chaponda is also a fiction writer. In 2002 he was a finalist in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest and in 2005 he was shortlisted for the P&E Award for online writing.
